Tec Centro Lebanon will host grand opening for healthcare training suite

Tec Centro Lebanon, a division of the WEPA Empowerment Center at 9 S. 9th St., Lebanon, will host a grand opening of its healthcare training suite on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The event will be coupled with remarks by WEPA (Working to Empower People for Advancement) founder Rafael Torres and a fall job fair.

The grand opening begins at 10 a.m., with remarks by Torres and other officials preceding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30. The job fair runs until 12:30 p.m., and tours of the facility will be given throughout the day.

Tec Centro Lebanon is modeled after the highly successful Tec Centro Lancaster, which also spawned Tec Centro York and Tec Centro Berks. The agency offers employment services, including workshops on resume preparation, financial literacy and buying a home, as well as an English as a Second Language program.

Workforce development training classes will be offered in the medical field, including certified nurse’s aide, phlebotomy technician, healthcare office assistant, and medical assistant. Dental assistant studies will eventually be added to the allied health program.

The allied health program will be staffed by instructors from Harrisburg Area Community College, Tec Centro officials said previously.

According to a report in May, classes are expected to be $100 per student for three of the four subject fields, with a cost of $200 for medical assisting.

Future additions to the WEPA program will include GED prep, culinary arts, and financial and digital literacy, Torres told LebTown in April.
