In “The Spies of Terror”, agents of the DGSE and the DGSI travel throughout France as well as the Middle East. Find out where the series was actually filmed.
This Tuesday, November 12 from 9:10 p.m., M6 is broadcasting the first two episodes of Les Espions de la Terror, a punchy fiction adapted from the eponymous book by Matthieu Suc, a Mediapart journalist specializing in the issue of terrorism.
This mini-series takes us on a relentless hunt for DGSE and DGSI agents to find the sponsors of the November 13 attacks.
The hunt for terrorists seen from the inside
Lucie (Fleur Geffrier) is an experienced and determined DGSI anti-terrorist agent, who will fight to advance the investigation. Against the advice of her management, she joins forces with Malika (Rachida Brakni), a seasoned analyst from the DGSE.
For his part, despite the paranoia that reigns within the services, Vincent (Vincent Elbaz), major at the territorial DGSI of Lille, does everything possible to protect his new source and allow him to infiltrate the heart of French jihadism.
The limitless commitment of these anonymous heroes, ready to do anything to protect France from new attacks, will undermine their private lives and awaken deep scars.
Where was the series filmed?
Marseille, Lille, Paris, but also Syria and Turkey, in The Spies of Terror, the agents of the DGSI and the DGSE travel a lot. But were all the scenes actually filmed in these locations?
“We went to the Paris region, to Lille, Marseille and Orléans” explained Rodolphe Tissot, the director, during a press briefing. “It was important, for the sake of realism, to go to the right places. Even Marseille, even if it was for a small scene, we wanted to shoot there because the light is not the same.”
The teams, however, cheated for certain locations. For the scenes taking place in Belgium, they shot from the French side.due to production limits” they explained. As for the scenes in the Middle East, it was in Morocco that the production set up its cameras. “It's complicated to go to real countries”, concluded the director.
