The Spies of Terror, of which M6 is broadcasting the first two episodes this Tuesday, November 12, returns to the investigation which made it possible to eliminate those responsible for the November 13 attacks. A miniseries filmed in France and abroad.
Tuesday November 12, M6 offers the first two episodes of Spies of Terror (our opinion). A four-part miniseries which brilliantly traces the hunt for the sponsors of the Paris attacks on November 13, 2015, until the elimination of the mastermind of the operation a year later in Syria. An in-depth investigation carried out by the French security and intelligence services which shows the scale and complexity of the fight against terrorism. Dense but absolutely captivating.
The Spies of Terror : where was the M6 miniseries filmed?
Adapted from the eponymous book by Mathieu Suc, the miniseries The Spies of Terror was mainly produced in Paris and the Paris region but also in Lille, where the officer played by Vincent Elbaz and his informer (Rachid Guellaz, seen in Valid). Actors and technicians also went to Marseille for the needs of some scenes. On the other hand, there is no question of filming in Türkiye, nor in Kurdistan and even less in Syria! For these scenes, the teams actually settled… in Morocco.
Concerning the Villacoublay air base from which Malika Berthier, the agent of the General Directorate of External Security (DGSE) played by Rachida Brakni, flies very regularly, it is in reality that of Orléans. “I loved filming Orléans, assures the actress. Getting into these military planes is still something. Especially when we know that this is where prisoners, terrorists are repatriated… Frankly, it's impressive. In any case, it struck me. It looks like a flying coffin. It’s not comfortable at all!”
As for the offices of the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI), these are those of production, in the basement. “It was good, cell phones weren’t available, like at the DGSI!” jokes Rachida Brakni.
The Spies of Terror : the funny filming anecdote
Met during the broadcast of Spies of terror, Mathieu Suc, the journalist and author of the eponymous book who participated in writing the script, revealed a funny anecdote concerning the filming of the series. “One day, I was sent an article from The Voice of the North which explained that there had been a panic in a district of Lille or on the outskirts of Lille, because people had heard gunshots in all directions. In reality, it was because on the one hand there was the filming of Spies of terror, and on the other that of Sambre [la série de France 2 réalisée par Jean Xavier de Lestrade, ndlr], fiction adapted from the book by Alice Géraud, the companion of Fabrice Arfi, my superior Médiapart [et auteur de D’argent et de sang, dont a été adaptée la série de Canal+, ndlr]. It made us laugh with Alice because we said to ourselves that we had managed to find each other on our two series which have nothing to do with each other.”
