After Arthur’s complaint against Aymeric Caron, the two men argue on social networks

This Friday, November 8, the RFI media confirmed that 70% of the victims of Israeli attacks since 2023 are “women and children“. On average, 40 children have died every day for a year in Palestine. In reacting to this information, Aymeric Caron did not just denounce the situation. He accused “Enthoven, Yadan, Arfi et le CRIF, Fourest, BHL, Corsia, Arthur“to be”supports the massacres“et you”genocide” in Gaza.

Arthur sues Aymeric Caron

This accusation pushed Arthur to react quickly, first by filing a complaint this Sunday, November 10. A decision announced via a press release written by his lawyers: “Does the rebellious MP accuse Arthur – in the same way as Crif and other figures in the Jewish community – of deliberately supporting what would constitute, according to him, a ‘genocide’, that is to say the most serious crimes. These remarks constituting the imputation of a specific fact likely to undermine honor and reputation, they fall under the incrimination of public defamation defined in article 29 of the Law of 1881. For the lawyers François Zimeray and Jessica Finelle: ‘These remarks serve neither the cause of truth nor that of peace. Deputy Caron is not content with grossly falsifying the perspective defended by Arthur, he is part of a hateful and obsessive rhetoric aimed at initiating an inhumanity trial against several Jewish personalities.“.

The host in turn accuses the MP in a scathing letter

Then, on social networks, Arthur expressed his anger by calling out Laurent Ruquier’s ex-columnist in On n’est pas couch on France 2: “By accusing me of supporting the massacres in Gaza, you are not only defaming me: you are making me a target. It’s become your specialty, right? Harassing predominantly Jewish personalities on the networks, regardless of the consequences. (…) Find a single sentence, a single word from me that supports such remarks. You won’t make it. If you had taken the trouble to read my publications, especially on the French hostages – a subject which, strangely, seems to elude you – you would know that, unlike you, my empathy does not make a distinction: a dead child, that he whether Palestinian or Israeli, it is unsustainable, period. (…) Defending the Palestinian people is laudable, but that does not excuse turning a blind eye to the crimes of Hamas, which manipulates the suffering of its people for its interests. And what about your indignation for the millions of deaths in the DRC, Sudan, Syria, Yemen? For oppressed women in Iran and Afghanistan? Not a word in the thousands of tweets that you relentlessly pour out. Perhaps because in these conflicts, no Jews are involved. Mr. Caron, your speech stinks anti-Semitism.

Aymeric Caron persists and signs in his response to Arthur

Arthur and

Aymeric Caron therefore accuses each other of supporting only one people, and both affirm to support the two peoples of this Israeli-Palestinian conflict… Justice will decide. But in the meantime, Aymeric Caron wanted to respond to Arthur by reproaching him for his comments and actions in recent months: “Last October 7, during the tribute to the victims of October 7 organized by the CRIF, you stated that you were ‘revolted by the demonization of Israel which is unbearable for us’. To say that Israel is led by a fascist government, accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity by the ICC prosecutor and of genocide by the UN, the IC, and Israeli historians, is therefore ‘unbearable’ for you. ‘. In fact, for you the truth of the horrors that Israel commits must not be told. (…) You also attacked Konbini, accused of the same misdeed: you called on the shareholders to fire the managers of the media, to whom you criticized its subjects on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On October 7, you also attacked Sciences Po students mobilized to stop the massacres in Gaza. Particularly serious: you are close to the Diaspora Defense Force (DDF) association. On March 27, you were a guest at one of his parties. However, DDF openly supports the Israeli army in its action in Gaza (despite the multiple proven crimes of which it is guilty), denies Israeli colonization (‘we are not settlers at home’), denies the expulsion of more than 700 000 Palestinians in 1948, declares that Israelis are victims of apartheid in Gaza and the West Bank, (…) and denies the toll of Palestinian victims in Gaza. DDF repeats ‘Pallywood’ propaganda which claims that images of killed Palestinians are fake, that they actually show mannequins, dolls and fake blood. It is this same association, DDF, of which you are relaying today a defamatory video against me“.

Aymeric Caron reaffirms his statements against Hamas

To conclude his long open letter to Arthur, the left-wing MP denies Arthur’s accusations, believing that he has never condemned Hamas. He writes: “You still accuse me of ‘turning a blind eye to Hamas’ crimes’. Still wrong. Among my statements: ‘Hamas has committed atrocious, despicable acts, has committed war crimes which are also terrorist acts’ (France Info TV, October 11, 2023). ‘Hamas must absolutely be fought, eradicated, it is a movement which not only perpetrated these terrorist acts, but also which does not allow us to envisage peace in the region’. (France 2, October 25, 2023). I now ask you this question: for my part, I denounce without the slightest ambiguity the actions of Hamas. But are you able to say that Netanyahu is a war criminal who should be in prison? Are you able to say that war crimes and crimes against humanity have been taking place in Gaza over the past year that revolt you? Are you able to denounce the daily crimes of settlers in the West Bank? Are you able to denounce the colonization, occupation, arbitrary arrests, detention and torture of thousands of Palestinians, even children as young as 12? Are you capable of it?“. https://t.co/EtFe6q5usP— Aymeric Caron (@CaronAymericoff)
