After more than three years of waiting, “Hippocrates” is preparing to make its comeback on Canal+ with the broadcast of season 3. But why did we have to wait so long to have new episodes? ?
On April 26, 2021, season 2 of Hippocrates, the flagship medical series of Canal+ created by Thomas Lilti, ended after 8 thrilling episodes, which saw Arben (Karim Leklou), Alyson (Alice Belaïdi), Hugo (Zacharie Chasseriaud) and Chloé (Louise Bourgoin) deal with the arrival of emergencies in the internal medicine department.
And in the last minutes of episode 8, in order to draw a parallel with the situation in hospitals at the time of broadcast, the fine team had to deal with an influx of patients affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
After more than three years of waiting, Hippocrates is preparing to make its comeback this Monday, November 11 on Canal+ with the broadcast of the first two episodes of season 3. But why did we have to wait so long time between the two seasons?
Three years of waiting between season 2 and 3
We know that unlike American screenwriters, who have the habit of doing one season per year, French authors sometimes have the annoying habit of making viewers wait between two seasons.
And it is not Hippocrates who will make us say the opposite. The wait had already been long between season 1 and 2. The fault was the covid epidemic, which occurred in the middle of filming, which had delayed the shooting. But what is the explanation for this delay for season 3?
“This time between the two seasons is my time”, explained Thomas Lilti during a press briefing. “I would obviously like to go faster, because I know very well that there is always an expectation from viewers for recurring series.”
“But to write the scenarios, I simply have to find something to tell. So it took me a little time to tell myself that this was the subject I wanted to try to tell. And for me, that's what's most important, and that's what explains the time it took me to write.“
“There are also practical problems, such as the availability of actors, but this is almost secondary.”. An admittedly long wait, which therefore allows the author to offer seasons which are always of high quality.
