The victim had decided to go walk his friend's dog after the two men watched a football match together.
The bad meeting turned into a tragedy. Sunday, November 10 at the end of the afternoon, a 58-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Marcq-en-Barœul (North). The fifty-year-old, who had just watched the LOSC Lille match with a friend, decided to go walk the latter's dog. It was then that he encountered his attacker on the towpath of the Roubaix canal, around 6 p.m.
According to information from France 3 Hauts-de-Francethe alleged perpetrator was arrested. It appears to be a homeless man who had earlier stolen a knife from a nearby furniture and decoration store. A jogger, present on the scene before the arrival of emergency services, provided cardiac massage to the victim, but he did not survive.
Our colleagues specify that the reasons for this attack are not yet known but it could be a gratuitous act. Bernard Gérard, the mayor of the town, warned the family of the victim of the death. The investigation will have to shed light on this matter.
