While the 40 entrants left Les Sables d'Olonne on Sunday and began their world tour, Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance) was in the lead this Monday morning at the 7:00 a.m. check-in.
Among the favorites for final victory, Charlie Dalin has already taken control of this new edition of the Vendée Globe. Indeed, a few hours after the departure of the 40 entrants from Les Sables d'Olonne, the French skipper was first at 7 a.m. on Monday, November 11. However, the one sailing aboard Macif Santé Prévoyance only had a small lead over Sébastien Simon, just two nautical miles from the first. Behind, Sam Goodchild was in 3rd position, 5.20 miles from Dalin. “It's quiet, we're downwind, the night is beautiful… We can't ask for much better than that to get into the bath and slowly come down after the emotions of this morning, this noon,” admitted Clarisse Crémer (13th), on the official website of the event.
Colman: “That’s the Vendée Globe! »
Currently 17th, Conrad Colman had a rough start to the race, because after a problem before the start, he suffered an electronic blackout early Sunday evening. “ That’s the Vendée Globe! Our boats are complicated, we will have moments of joy, disappointment, fear, frustration: I signed up for everything! I'm polishing my head to remove the traces of rust accumulated during the three weeks in the village, and now I'm really delighted to be off to a good start, enthused the New Zealander (MS Amlin). (…) Everything happens in good harmony, the little “good night, good luck” spice up the conversation, I think we are all happy to be at sea. »
