the Doubs prefecture denounces the “difficult to manage behavior” of heavy goods vehicles

Hundreds of trucks and cars found themselves stuck on the A36 motorway in . Some trucks did not respect the instructions and tried to continue driving, denounces the department prefecture.

Cars stuck on the road and drivers forced to spend the night in their cars. In the Doubs, the snow paralyzed several roads: 800 trucks and around a hundred light vehicles found themselves stuck from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. on the A36, before traffic resumed slowly.

This Friday morning, 150 heavy goods vehicles were still stored on the A36 due to a traffic ban order issued by the Doubs prefecture: “The movement of heavy goods vehicles is prohibited until 10 a.m.”, explains Saadia Tamelikecht, cabinet director of Doubs, on RMC et RMC Story. Although the snow episode is over, temperatures have plunged and ice has appeared, accentuating the slippery nature of the roads.

“Very difficult to discipline heavyweights”

Despite the ban, many trucks are trying to move forward. “It is very difficult to discipline heavy goods vehicles and we now have more than 1,000 trucks that have entered the highway and are occupying one of the two lanes. One lane is moving slowly for cars and the other is blocked. over more than 15 km with trucks one behind the other which do not move, because they are stopped by the gendarmerie”, explains Saadia Tamelikecht.

Apolline Morning of November 22 – 7 a.m./8 a.m.

“We had behavior from the heavy goods vehicles that was extremely difficult to manage all night,” laments the chief of staff of the prefect of Doubs. If some were the victims of the snowy episode on a winding highway with a lot of elevation, “a certain number of them absolutely wanted to leave at all costs throughout the night”, specifies Saadia Tamelikecht.

“The instructions were not followed”

“We had to ask certain (trucks) to move and maneuver to clear certain axes,” explains the Doubs cabinet director.

“You should avoid taking your vehicle. It’s unreasonable to drive this morning,” she continues.

“The instructions were not followed,” said the Minister of Ecological Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher this Friday on RMC and BFMTV. “Now we have to intervene but these interventions are made more difficult,” she adds.

In the Doubs, around a hundred vehicles for desalination are mobilized. The Departmental Council has initiated the desalination of the secondary network. School transport is suspended around Montbéliard.
