One last breath to destroy what had cost so much to achieve. That play, that last play, that cost two points and it has clouded a solid, serious, committed match by a Real Valladolid that faced a powerful and dominating Athletic Club, that equalized in clear scoring actions, that took the lead in the final stretch with a goal from Moro, and that ended to fit into that action that anticipated the end.
The duel against the Basque team, which arrived in sixth position, was from less to more for the pucelanos. The ball was red and white but the locals showed a lot of defensive solvency, good pressure work in their own half, well-coordinated lines, and forcefulness at the back. The visiting team was around the area but the first clear came for the Blanvioleta in a well-woven action that ended with a cross from Moro and a shot from Lucas Rosa at the far post, which forced a superb intervention from Agirrezabala. It was the 12th minute and the reply immediately came in a hand in hand by Nico Williams against which Hein saved well, forcing a shot outside the goal.
As the minutes passed, Real Valladolid found itself on the field.
