Lhe Paris SG consoled itself for its European slap on Wednesday by scoring a slew of goals in one half at Angers (4-2), Saturday for the 11th day of the League, and maintaining its lead over Monaco.
PSG is first with 29 points, six points ahead of Monaco which won at the start of the evening against Strasbourg (3-1), nine ahead of Marseille which fell on Friday against Auxerre (3-1). A halt, however, for the SCO (15th, 10 points) after two victories in a row against Saint-Etienne and Monaco.
The Parisians were once again calm in Ligue 1, where they have still not lost this season. And this by taking care of the offensive efficiency which was lacking against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday (2-1 defeat).
The weakness of the Angevin defense necessarily qualifies the Parisian success of the evening but PSG has already scored 33 goals in 11 days, or three goals per match on average. Compare with the poor record in the Champions League (3 goals in 4 matches).
Coach Luis Enrique did not lie: he presented a largely reworked team but that was enough to panic the Whites and Blacks at the Raymond-Kopa stadium.
Established on the right wing, the South Korean Lee Kang-in opened the scoring by taking a low cross from Marco Asensio, once again placed in false 9 (17th). The ball entered at the last minute despite an Angevin defender’s attempted save on his line.
Kolo Muani breakthrough
Lee doubled the lead by calmly taking another cross behind Asensio (20th). The Spaniard offered himself a hat-trick of assists by then serving Bradley Barcola, intelligently shifted and who only had to strike in strength (31st).
The former Lyon player smashed Angers by heading a brushed cross from Lee, a rarity for him. He is the championship’s top scorer with 10 goals.
The Parisians then only had to manage and revive players like Randal Kolo Muani and Désiré Doué, who were lacking playing time, in the second half.
After an interruption of a few minutes during the throwing of tennis balls by the Angevin ultras in order to protest against the Professional Football League, the French international was able to show his vivacity. He notably made a nice breakthrough but his shot was repelled by Yahia Fofana (75th). And he found the post at the very end of the match.
As for Doué, he was once again borrowed, not knowing what to do with his position on the left wing, between aborted dribbles and back passes. The Angevins delivered a better performance than during the first act and were rewarded with a magnificent volley sent into the top corner by Esteban Lepaul, coming off the bench (90th+1).
Then Emmanuel Biumla headed a corner to demonstrate Parisian defensive weakness on a set piece (90th + 7, 4-2). The Angevin public warmly applauded their players at the final whistle.
