After two defeats in a row in the championship and led by Strasbourg, Monaco was able to make the decision in the last 20 minutes to win (1-3) and regain second place in the ranking.
Winner in the last moments in Bologna (1-0) this week in the Champions League, Monaco had to confirm its renewed form in Ligue 1. This was done after dominating Strasbourg (3-1) in a match which once again delivered his verdict in the final minutes. The Monegasques had nevertheless had opportunities to make the difference in the first half, but Embolo's clumsiness decided otherwise. Lacking confidence since the start of the season, the Swiss striker missed two opportunities. First by losing his duel with Petrovic (18th), then by missing his shot in the area in an ideal position (40th). Faced with this lack of efficiency, Strasbourg took the opportunity to open the scoring thanks to a shot at the near post from Mara from a tight angle (28th). Surprised, Majecki could surely have done better on this goal. Taking advantage of a bad back pass from Camara, Bakwa could have doubled the lead if he had not missed the target (45th).
Monaco is replaced
The second half was practically one-sided, with the Monegasques looking to get back into this match as quickly as possible. After a not strong enough strike from Vanderson (58th), or a free kick from Camara just wide (60th), it was finally on a penalty that ASM got back into the score after a hand from Moreira on his line. Ben Seghir transformed it perfectly by hitting hard on the left of Petrovic, who started on the right side (80th). It was then on a counter that Monaco took the advantage, again thanks to Ben Seghir, by taking a pass from Akliouche, perfectly launched by Vanderson (89th). On the start, Sow missed his control at the entrance to the area, allowing Ilenikhena to seal the score of the match (90th +1). With this success, Monaco regains second place and temporarily returns to three points behind Paris. First defeat of the season for Strasbourg, which follows a second setback in a row after Saint-Etienne last weekend.
