For president of Abecs, Pix by approach should have an impact, especially on debt

The president of the Brazilian Association of Credit Card and Services Companies (Abecs), Giancarlo Greco, stated this Thursday that Pix through contact should have an impact on debit cards.

In credit, he sees a low impact even on cards with no annual fee, which do not have benefits like loyalty programs.

“I believe it should have an impact, especially on debit cards. Credit, due to all the benefits of the value proposition, should continue to have strong growth,” he said, at a press conference to discuss the sector's numbers in the third quarter of this year.

Greco said that even in the case of credit cards with no annual fee, this impact should be reduced. “In addition to the benefits, you have an important component, the credit card has an established limit,” he said.

The contactless Pix will have a mandatory offer in February next year, but at least three institutions – Itaú Unibanco, C6 Bank and PicPay – started offering it this year, including through Google Pay, Google's digital wallet inserted into devices Android.
