Audiences: Was season 2 of “Master Crimes” on TF1 as popular as the first?

“Master Crimes” season 2 bowed out this Thursday, November 7. The TF1 detective series, which features Muriel Robin in the role of Louise Arbus, professor of psycho-criminology, who accompanies, with her students, Captain Delandre (Anne Le Nen) in resolving her investigations, was ended on a positive note, since it took the lead in the audiences and regained some faithful compared to last week. The 6th and final episode was watched by 3.48 million viewers. This corresponds to 18.5% of the public and 15.5% of the target of Women responsible for purchasing aged under 50 (FRDA-50).

La Une launched the 2nd season of its flagship program on October 17, with the first two episodes. Episodes 3 and 4 were also broadcast on the same evening on Thursday October 24. However, it then chose to broadcast only the 5th episode on October 31, followed by a rebroadcast, and the 6th this Thursday, November 7. During these four weeks of broadcast, the soap opera scored its best score with the pilot of this new season, which brought together 3.91 million fans (20.4% of the public) on Thursday October 17, impatient to see the duo again. Episode 4 (broadcast in the 2nd part of the evening) was the one that attracted the least attention, with 2.85 million viewers (19.5% of the public and 17.9% of the FRDA-50).

More than 1.2 million fewer viewers over the season, linearly

On average and in watch audiences, this second season will have brought together 3,35 millions of viewers, for an average audience share of 19,4% and approximately 17,7% on the FRDA-50 target. A clear decline in results if we compare it to that of the first season. Last year, “Master Crimes” was able to count, still on average and in monitoring audience, on 4.58 million viewers, or 25.3% of the public aged four and over and 25.6% of FRDA- 50. Season 1 of the program then became the second most viewed French drama on TF1 in replay in 2023 (behind “HPI), editor's note), with 1.09 million additional viewers in the seven-day window which followed its broadcast in linear on Thursday November 9, 2023.

If La Une can boast of having been the leader every Thursday thanks to its pair of investigators, no episode has exceeded the 4 million viewers mark this season. More worrying for the chain, it has never managed to surpass M6 and its “Best Pastry Chef” on the commercial target of FRDA-50. The Six program has always been well ahead on this indicator over the last four weeks.

A season 3 in preparation

But this has not discouraged TF1, which has already ordered a season 3 of its fiction. Muriel Robin and Anne Le Nen confirmed the news Thursday November 7 on the set of “Bonjour!”, the morning show on the front page hosted by Bruce Toussaint. Captain Barbara Delandre even indicated that filming would begin in January 2025.
