Weather: “Up to 180 mm of rain” expected in places… Météo France places Aude and Hérault on orange alert for rain, floods and storms

Beware of bad weather, Météo France alert Friday November 8. While locally stormy rain fell in the Pyrénées-Orientales on Thursday, the forecaster predicts a locally intense Mediterranean episode in Aude and Hérault. The alert index for rains, floods and thunderstorms was noted from 6 p.m.

At the end of the day and during the night from Friday to Saturday, “storms, sometimes strong and accompanied by heavy rain, break out in the Gulf of Lion, particularly from the east of Aude to Hérault, on the coast and in the 'interior,' warns the forecaster.

Up to 180 mm of rain in places

Heavy rain, sometimes taking a stormy character, is expected until Saturday morning in Languedoc and even Roussillon.

Accumulations which could “reach 80 to 120 mm” and locally up to “150/180 mm”, warns Météo France.

The damage will shift eastwards on Saturday. In the north-east of Corsica (2B), significant accumulations are possible. However, the forecaster warns, the intensity of the precipitation could lead to a worsening of vigilance.
