Suffering from Charcot's disease, the man who was president of PSG for a few months at the end of the 1990s is in critical condition.
In April 2023, Charles Biéry revealed that he suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often called Charcot disease. The former sports director of
Canal+ planned to resort to assisted suicide in Switzerland.
Guest of South Radio,
Michel Denisot gave sad news from his former colleague on the encrypted channel. “I went to see him a month ago in Carnac. I went to see him with Jean-Claude Darmon and Kimpembe, the PSG player. The three of us left one morning, we spent the morning with him and well listen, he is fighting against a complicated illness which is Charcot's disease« confided the former president of Paris Saint-Germain.
Charles Biétry, the end is near
Now 81 years old, Charles Biétry knows that his days are numbered. “He almost can't speak anymore, we don't understand, he has a very complicated speech problem and has difficulty moving around. He has a youthful eye and he fights…
Really, I am very admiring of his fight because it is a disease from which there is no cure for the moment and that's it.
I talk with him, he can text, so I talk with him very often”revealed Michel Denisot.
The total duration of Charcot disease can vary from a few months to several years. It lasts on average less than four years and, in 50% of cases, death occurs within three years following the first clinical manifestation.
