Around the hour mark, things were going wild in Backa Topola. The net wobbled three times within 188 seconds.
- 59. Minute: After a long ball deep, Albian Hajdari tries to head it to goalie Amir Saipi. However, the second leg was far too short, so Milos Pantovic could easily make it 2-0.
- 61. Minute: Renato Steffen brings a cross into the penalty area from the left side. Mohamed Belhadj scored the next goal for Luganesi at the second attempt. Previously he failed to hit the crossbar.
- 62. Minute: Lugano is not consistent enough on defense. Petar Stanic coldly exploits this after a pass from Aleksandar Cirkovic and scores to make it 3-1 – just 71 seconds after Lugano’s sign of life.
After that, coach Mattia Croci-Torti’s team didn’t want to succeed anymore. On the contrary: everything got worse. First Pantovic increased the score to 4-1 with his second goal (83′) and in the 89th minute Mattia Bottani was sent off with a red card after an assault.
Lugano inferior from A to Z
The game had started very badly for the “Bianconeri”. From the start they were pushed into their own zone by the home team. The Serbs were in each other’s arms for the first time in the 4th minute after Stanic hammered the ball under the crossbar from almost 20 meters.
There was no reaction from the guests, and what’s more: Backa Topola missed the second goal several times. Pantovic failed twice from promising positions (9th/15th) – the eventual double goalscorer is unlikely to weep for these chances.
Lugano lost out for the first time in the Conference League campaign – against a club that had previously suffered two nil defeats in two games.

FC Lugano will next play in the Conference League on November 28th. On the 4th matchday, the Ticino hosts the Belgian representatives Gent. Before that, Lugano faces the Young Boys (November 10th) and FC Zurich (November 24th) in the Super League.
