In addition to receiving Pix by contact this week, Google Wallet also gained support for Alelo cards. With the new feature, users of the benefits platform will be able to use their cell phone or smartwatch to make payments using Google Pay.
This is the first time that an Alelo card has reached a digital payment wallet. According to Alelo's commercial director, Pricila Medina, more than 70% of the company's users use smartphones with Android, which led to the choice of Google Pay as the platform.
The new feature is available to Alelo customers with Food, Meal and Everything type cards, with active status. Other company solutions, such as Mobility, Culture and Fleet cannot be added to Google Wallet.
According to the company, Alelo is the first closed arrangement benefits company (when payment methods can only be used within limits established by the issuing institution) to arrive on Google Pay.
O Technoblog Alelo asked about the expected expansion of support for other digital wallets, such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. The company says that “it plans to increase the availability of products in digital wallets during the year 2025”.
In the market, other benefit companies already have a presence in at least one digital wallet for contactless payments, such as Flash, Caju, Swile, Pluxee (formerly Sodexo) and iFood Benefícios. Ticket, one of the main companies in the sector, does not offer any support for payments via NFC.
How to use Alelo or Google Pay?
To use the service, simply follow the standard procedure in Google Wallet and add the payment method using your card number. The user's smartphone must support NFC technology, and biometric confirmation must be performed to pay.
It still won't be possible to leave your physical card at home, at least for now. According to Alelo, payments with Google Pay can initially be made on Cielo and Getnet machines
In addition to contactless payments, the benefits company also allows you to carry out transactions via QR Code within the Alelo app. This function is available on Cielo machines.
