Julien Charles, who exercised the functions of prefect of Pyrénées-Atlantiques for two years will soon be replaced by Jean-Marie Girier the current prefect of Vienne.
Julien Charles leaves his position within the Pyrénées-Atlantiques prefecture following his appointment as prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis. He will be replaced by Jean-Marie Girier who has worked in the Vienne department since March 7, 2022. Their official start dates will be set soon by the Ministry of the Interior.
Jean-Marie Girier is originally from Lyon and is 40 years old. He was chief of staff to the President of the National Assembly in 2018 and held the position of prefect in 2020 in the Territoire-de-Belfort then in 2022 in the Vienne department.
