Faced with the worrying presence of crack users, several companies have taken drastic measures to ensure the safety of their employees.

Security guards to reassure employees. On the border between the 19th arrondissement of and Seine-Saint-Denis, the Rosa Parks district has become the scene of a regular and unusual ride, to say the least.

750 meters

Since 2019, around twenty security agents have patrolled the neighborhood daily. Their mission? Escort employees between the public transportation station and their offices. This initiative, set up by a group of companies, aims to protect employees on a 750 meter journey deemed to be at risk.

“It reassures me, it’s obvious, now that night falls earlier in the evening,” says an employee at BFMTV. “It’s reassuring, especially when we arrive at Rosa Parks where it can be a little tense,” adds another.

Security agents, present from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., are equipped to intervene quickly if necessary.

On a scooter

“They do security, they travel on electric scooters if there is a fire to get to the site more quickly,” explains a witness. Among the companies concerned, BNP Paribas claims to be “in contact with the authorities and is at the same time taking all necessary measures to strengthen the security of its employees”.

The Ministry of Justice, which has two sites in the district, has also put in place specific measures for its 3,000 employees.

“There are shuttles set up for the Ministry of Justice which accompany agents to transport,” indicates Cédric Logelin, spokesperson for the ministry.

He also emphasizes that “all these security measures are carried out in conjunction with the Paris police headquarters and the local police station.”

While the neighborhood is equipped with numerous surveillance cameras, time will tell if these measures will be enough to allay the concerns of local workers and residents.
