A poll carried out after the election of Donald Trump shows that the French are not fans of the new tenant of the White House. 8 out of 10 French people have a bad image of it.
How is France experiencing the election of Donald Trump? Rather badly, according to an Elabe survey for BFMTV carried out after the publication of the results. 79% of French people surveyed have a bad image of the 47th President of the United States. Even though this represents a large majority, it is still less than the 83% after his first election in 2016.
It still enjoys a good image among 12% of French people surveyed, including 12% who have a “very good picture” of Donald Trump. 12% resent the “satisfaction” after this election, 26% of “indifference” and 62% of “worry”.
RN voters have a better image
It is interesting to see which categories of voters in France have a good or bad opinion of the billionaire. The image of Donald Trump “is particularly bad among NFP (94%) and Ensemble (91%) voters.” Barely more than half of RN voters have a bad image of the next president (56%). 31% are even “satisfied”.
What concerns the French most are the subjects that concern them directly. Indeed, even if concern persists about ethnic minorities or for the reproductive rights of Americans, it is relations with France and Europe as well as climate change that capture the attention of the French. 72% consider that the return of Donald Trump to the White House is bad news for the climate. It must be said that he does not hide being a climate skeptic, withdrew the United States from the Paris agreements and promised more drilling for fossil fuels during his mandate.
48% of French people surveyed are worried about a deterioration in relations between Paris and Washington. It must be said that relations between Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron have not always been the best, although the French president was keen to congratulate his counterpart even before the publication of the final results.
