Lookman On Target In Atalanta Wi Against Stuttgart

Atalanta defeated VfB Stuttgart 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday thanks to goals from Ademola Lookman and Nicolo Zaniolo in the second half.

The Italian team is yet to give up a goal this season.

Ademola Lookman scored the first goal in the 51st minute after Charles De Ketelaere’s cross was touched in by Lookman.

As the home team was having trouble scoring, Zaniolo scored the game-winning goal two minutes from time.

Atalanta maintained their strong play, going undefeated in their last eight games, while Stuttgart’s remarkable home record of going more than a year without dropping a game in any tournament was terminated by the loss.

Stuttgart fell to 27th place with four points, out of the playoff zone, while Atalanta rose to ninth place with eight points.

Despite having the majority of the possession in the first half, Stuttgart appeared to have a better chance of scoring when Anthony Rouault headed over from inside the six-yard box.

At the end of the half, Chris Fuhrich’s pass set up Deniz Undav for a close-range shot, but he struck the side netting, giving Stuttgart their best opportunity of the half.

De Ketelaere was brought on by Atalanta at the beginning of the second half, and it was his deft play that handed them the lead as he dribbled past two defenders and his ball across the goal gave Lookman the simplest of tap-ins.

Stuttgart, who had defeated Juventus 1-0 in their previous Champions League match, was unable to get through the Atalanta defence and won the game in the closing minutes.

Zaniolo, a substitute, took advantage of Stuttgart’s careless defence and calmly slipped the ball past Alexander Nubel in a one-on-one match with the goalie.

Gasperini’s team has put itself in a great position at the halfway point of the league phase, and Atalanta and Inter Milan are the only two teams in the competition that have not given up a goal after four games.
