“The disappointment is immense, it’s once in a lifetime. It was the only trip we wanted to make, what's more with the possibility of seeing Stade Brestois qualify for the round of 32.” On the phone, this Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Antoine Le Page does not hide his sadness. With five friends, he was one of the supporters who had to fly from Nantes airport to Prague, in the Czech Republic. A flight canceled due to a strike by firefighters at Nantes airport.
“We found ourselves stuck in the water”
“I oversee the pre-match protocol and the ball boys for Stade Brestois. I managed to get my places through the club, which is why I was able to get six. We had booked our plane tickets to Prague, the day after the official draw for the Champions League, at the end of August,” he explains. “At 9 p.m. on Tuesday, EasyJet informed us that our flight was permanently canceled. We looked from Paris, from Brussels… We even thought about going there by car. But 28 hours round trip was not an option. We found ourselves with our noses in the water,” says the young man.
And leave from Paris? “With a plane that had us arriving there a quarter of an hour before the start of the match, it was risky. If I'm not saying anything stupid, we have to arrive at the stadium two hours before the start of the match, from 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. Potentially, we wouldn't have been able to enter the stadium, even with a ticket. Not to mention the additional costs. »
His six tickets sold very quickly
Besides the sadness of not being able to attend the Sparta Prague-Stade Brestois clash, Antoine Le Page had another worry: what to do with his six sesames? He quickly posted on social networks, like many others, his intention to resell them. A conclusive approach since at noon this Wednesday, the six tickets had found takers. “I managed to resell all of my six tickets at cost, 35 euros. There were a lot of requests because some had taken their plane without seats, the parking lot being already full. The sales exchange worked very well. I received a lot of requests. I didn’t make a profit, the goal was to please.”
A small consolation for those who try, despite everything, to go to Barcelona…
