The investigation is progressing in the case of the murder of Nicolas, a young 22-year-old rugby player, shot dead in front of a nightclub in Ardèche on November 1. It was in the northern Marseille district of La Bricarde (15th arrondissement), on a deal point run by the DZMafia, that the first suspect was arrested Monday evening. Two hours later, the police went to Cavaillon, in the neighboring department of Vaucluse. In the building that we can see in the report at the top of this article, they arrested a second suspect at his home. Two coordinated operations to avoid any risk of leakage.
The two men traveled more than 150 km to return from Saint-Péray, in Ardèche. In their escape, they abandoned and set fire to their vehicle in Valence, 5 km away. It was in particular thanks to video surveillance images that the police were able to find them in less than four days.
“We can be proud, when we are a police officer, to have acted so quickly, to have arrested individuals who are killers so quickly.reacts Rudy Manna, spokesperson for the Alliance Police nationale union. We are dealing with killers, from a person who asked for nothing.” The man arrested in Marseille is barely 19 years old. He is Italian, unknown to the police. It was he who opened fire. The second is the alleged driver of the vehicle. He is 23 years old and lives in Cavaillon. He is already known to the police, particularly for drug trafficking.

Did the two know each other before the shooting? Why did they open fire? One of the avenues favored by investigators is an attempted racketeering against the Le Seven nightclub, committed on behalf of the DZ Mafia or another criminal organization. A hypothesis brushed aside by the lawyer for the management of the nightclub. “There is absolutely no link with any drug trafficking. There has been no attempt at racketeering against the establishment. If that had been the case, a complaint would have been filed.”
The two suspects remained in custody as of Wednesday morning. The procedure could be extended until Friday.
