Multiple searches were underway in the world of French professional Football: the Professional Football League (LFP), its president Vincent Labrune and the CVC fund are in the sights of the national financial prosecutor’s office, on suspicion of embezzlement of public funds in particular.
Searches of the LFP offices and the premises of the investment fund CVC Capital Partners have begun, a judicial source told AFP, which confirmed information from L’Equipe.
Another search also took place at the home of Vincent Labrune, the president of the LFP re-elected for a second term at the head of the body last September, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, also confirmed to AFP a source close to the file.
Police investigation underway
These searches are part of an investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) opened in February 2024 into the contract entered into in 2022 by the LFP with the CVC investment fund.
The investigations were entrusted on July 16 to the gendarmes of the Paris Research Section, who are seeking to determine whether there was embezzlement of public funds, active and passive corruption of a public official and/or illegal taking of interests during of the conclusion of this agreement.
