Manchester City have dealt with multiple injury issues this season.

Despite City’s hefty injury list, they have only lost one game across all competitions.

That defeat came in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League, which was the first time the Cherries had ever beaten the Manchester club.

After this defeat, former City player Rodney Marsh shared a message on social media reminding Blues supporters that the result at Bournemouth has not ruled Pep Guardiola’s side out of the title race.

With City still on the hunt to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, a key figure in the first-team squad has shared his verdict on one particular teammate who is currently out of action through injury.

Bernardo Silva hails Ruben Dias amid injury blow

Ahead of City’s Champions League match against Sporting CP, Bernardo Silva said this about Ruben Dias and his recent absence due to injury.

He said: “He’s my best friend in the team, someone I get along with really well, and even though he’s a bit younger than me, we still shared some moments at Benfica when we were there.

“And he’s a leader – that’s the word that best defines him. He’s a bit intense in the way that he works, sometimes a bit too much for me, but that shows his passion for the game.

“Focus, always connected to the game, body language, everything that you expect a proper defender to have, he’s got everything.

“Apart from that, the importance that he’s got on the dressing room is massive because of him being so loud. We miss him.”

What has Guardiola said about Dias and his injury?

After the defender was unavailable for City’s defeat against Bournemouth, Guardiola discussed Dias’ injury situation, saying this on the matter.

“They are injured. Ruben [Dias] until the international break will be injured, John [Stones]I don’t know if he’ll be back for the next two games.”

Since City paid £65m to sign the defender from Benfica back in the 2020 summer transfer window, he has gone on to make 192 appearances in all competitions.

Having appeared in all but one of City’s matches this season prior to the Bournemouth defeat, this showcases how important he is for the Blues.

This assessment from Silva isn’t the first time the centre-back’s personality and presence on and off the pitch has been hailed, as Oscar Bobb named Dias the best trainer at City because he “never switches off.”

Taking all of that on board, it’s clear that Dias is a vital figure for City on and off the pitch and someone they will need back as soon as possible if they want to win more trophies this season.
