Warren County Public Schools releases statement on results of Amendment 2 vote

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Commonwealth of Kentucky has voted No on Constitutional Amendment 2.

Amendment 2 asked voters to decide if the general assembly could provide financial support for the education of students outside the system of common (public) schools.

According to a report by the Associated Press, Kentucky voters on Tuesday rejected a ballot measure that was intended to allow state lawmakers to allocate public tax dollars to support students attending private or charter schools.

Warren County Public Schools released the following statement on Tuesday evening.

“At Warren County Public Schools, we are pleased that Amendment 2, which aimed to create a voucher system that would divert public funding away from public schools, was defeated, ensuring that our resources remain focused on providing quality education for all students. This decision by Kentucky voters reflects the strong support for public education and highlights the commitment to our dedicated teachers and staff members who work tirelessly for our students. Public education is the greatest equalizer and is vital for the growth and success of our community. Moving forward, we will continue to advocate for essential initiatives, including fully funding universal pre-K programs, full-day kindergarten, transportation, competitive compensation for staff, school safety measures and enhanced development and recruitment opportunities for educators. Together, we can ensure that we strengthen our communities by ensuring all students receive the quality education they deserve, preparing them for a bright and successful future.”
