The comparison certainly has multiple limits. Another country, another history, another political system. However, imagine: Saint-Denis, bastion of the left in the Paris suburbs, a young and cosmopolitan city, suddenly represented in the National Assembly by an octogenarian far-right, conspiracy-minded and racist deputy. This is precisely what awaits, as of January 3, 2025, the date the next American Congress takes office, the city of Greensboro, North Carolina, one of the epicenters of the struggle for civil rights in the South. UNITED STATES. The fault is a local electoral map redrawn and disfigured by the Republicans – to their advantage.
During the November 5 election, the citizens of Greensboro, a city of 300,000 inhabitants with a majority of minorities (43% black, 9% Latino), where the average age does not exceed 35 years, should vote largely for Kamala Harris. But if North Carolina is one of the seven «swing states» eagerly courted by the two candidates for the White House, the legislative vote, in this circumscription
