Stools, stepladders, ladders… why does the SNCF advise travelers not to board certain TER trains with these objects?

This Monday, November 4, 2024, the SNCF posted a post online asking TER travelers in not to take certain objects with them on board the trains.

Trains in Pays de la Loire are expecting a particularly large number of people in the next few days and the SNCF has anticipated this. In a message posted this Monday, the X (ex-Twitter) TER Pays de la Loire account asks users to travel light, especially this weekend. And if the railway company makes this request, it is not for nothing.

A sporting competition involved

Indeed, this Sunday, November 10, will be the big start of the 10th edition of the legendary race around the world, the Vendée Globe, where no less than 40 skippers will take part in the competition.

And many fans are expected, particularly because of the recommendation to use public transport to attend the start. This is why the SNCF wants to be forward-looking and has therefore broadcast this message on social networks.

“The 10th edition of the Vendée Globe is approaching, the excitement is growing, the trains are likely to be full!”started the railway company on X.

“For the comfort and safety of all, we invite you to avoid taking bulky objects such as stools, stepladders or ladders onto trains”she then wrote in her tweet.

While some people may be surprised that these and other bulky items are not recommended, they are nevertheless very useful to the greatest sailing enthusiasts. If you are not in the front row, indeed, a stool or stepladder could be used to see the skippers start.
