Noel McNamara, the coach in charge of the Union Bordeaux-Bègles attack, has extended his contract with the Girondins. He is now linked to the club until 2027.
There is surely a worse job than coaching the back lines of Bordeaux-Bègles. This is what Noel McNamara must have said to himself when signing his new two-year contract with the Gironde club. The one who went through all the categories of Irish young people met Yannick Bru during their joint adventure with the Durban Sharks in 2022. The latter then convinced him to come to France when he took charge of the Bordeaux team .
In charge of the UBB attack since the summer of 2023, the Irishman had a great first year with a Top 14 final to boot. Second in the championship after nine days, the Girondins have had an excellent start to the 2024/2025 season and the former XV du Trèfle is no stranger to this since his team leads the best attacks in the elite with 304 points scored. Noel McNamara will therefore continue to train Matthieu Jalibert, Damian Penaud, Louis Bielle-Biarrey and others until 2027.
