Taylor Swift fans were devastated to learn their tickets were transferred out of their account.
INDIANAPOLIS — Friday kicks off the last weekend of The Eras Tour in the United States.
The concert is something Ashlee Roybal is excited to attend.
“We’ve made upwards of like 60 bracelets, which is a very common thing to do,” Roybal showed off.
But instead of packing her bag in peace, she pausing to do an interview with 13News because her tickets were missing from the Ticketmaster account.
“We have been on the phone all morning,” Roybal explained.
Ticketmaster accounts offer a transfer feature so you can share tickets with friends.
However, hackers are getting into customers’ accounts and transferring the pricey tickets to their own accounts.
When you call Ticketmaster’s help line, customers will hear an automated message that asks, “Are you calling about ticket transfers for Taylor Swift?’
If you respond yes, the next prompt asks, “have your tickets already been transferred?”
“They (tickets) were upwards of around $1,500 a ticket. So this was by no means an easy expense for any of us to have,” Roybal said.
Add their hotel and a friend’s flight and the potential loss would be even higher.
That is when Ticketmaster told us, in part, that, “Fans should be aware unauthorized ticket transfers are often a result of poor password management, like using the same password across multiple websites. Fans should use a strong unique password for their Ticketmaster account, as they would a bank account.”
That means make sure your Ticketmaster account email do not share the same password.
When we reached out to Ticketmaster about her issue, they told us their tickets would be restored shortly. Roybal confirmed with us the tickets are now safe and sound, and they are ready to see sparks fly.
Unauthorized ticket transfers are not specific to The Eras Tour.
Other concertgoers say their tickets to Jelly Roll and P!nk concerts and Indianapolis Fever games temporarily went missing.
