James Van Der Beek, the actor who became best known through the series, has been diagnosed with cancer Dawson’s creek. He announced this himself in an interview with the magazine People.
“I have colon cancer,” says 47-year-old Van Der Beek in the interview. “I kept the diagnosis to myself to deal with it and I took steps to resolve it, with support from my incredible family. There is reason for optimism and I feel good.” The latter is also evident from the fact that Van Der Beek continues to work and continues to post photos on Instagram of trips with his family.
He also wrote about his diagnosis on Instagram. “Approximately 2 billion people worldwide are diagnosed with this disease every year, and I am one of them.” He gave the interview with People in his own words “to raise awareness” and “tell my story on my own terms.” “But that plan had to change early this morning when I was told a tabloid would be breaking the news. So far, I have dealt with this privately, getting treatment and improving my overall health. I feel good and strong. It’s been quite an adventure and I’ll tell you more when I’m ready. I apologize to all the people in my life who I wish I had told.”
Van Der Beek has been married to Kimberly Van Der Beek since 2010. She already had six children with him; Olivia, Annebel, Joshua, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah.
