The Interists disposed of Venice this Sunday evening, during the 11th day of the Italian championship.

Inter Milan took their time to beat promoted Venice 1-0 on Sunday during the 11th day of the Italian Championship, but secured the essentials by coming back to within a point of leader Naples, outclassed 3-0 earlier at home by Atalanta. Inter, still deprived of Francesco Acerbi in defense, suffered against Venice and could have been behind without a spectacular save from Yann Sommer (40th) in front of Gaetano Oristanio, although at close range.

Salvation came for the reigning Italian champion from his captain Lautaro Martinez who released the 66,000 spectators at San Siro in the 65th minute by taking home a cross from Federico Dimarco. Marcus Thuram immediately missed the opportunity to double the score, then in the 79th minute when his header was pushed back by the crossbar, and Inter, tense, trembled until the end. In added time, Venice thought they equalized through Marin Sverko, before this goal was invalidated by the VAR for a foul by the Croatian defender.

Inter-Naples next week

The Nerazzurri did not miss the opportunity to get back on the heels of Napoli who they will face next Sunday, still at home, with the hope of going to the top of the championship for the first time this season. Until then, the 2023 European vice-champions host Arsenal on Wednesday in the Champions League where they are undefeated this season with a draw (0-0) at Manchester City and two victories (4-0 against Red Star Belgrade and 1-0 against Young Boys in Bern).
