Several airline planes scheduled to fly over East Africa this Sunday, November 3, had their flight plans modified after the observation of a luminous object at high altitude above the Sudan area.

Unusual situation over Africa. Several Air flights were diverted this Sunday, November 3, BFMTV learned, confirming information from the specialized site AirPlus News. The airline has decided to suspend flights over the Red Sea area “as a precautionary principle”.

“Air France confirms that, as part of the precautionary principle, the company has decided to suspend flights over the Red Sea area until further notice. As a result, the itinerary of some of its flights has been modified. Depending on their location, some aircraft were able to turn around and return to land at their departure airport,” the airline said in a press release sent to BFMTV.

The company explains that a high altitude luminous object was observed by a crew over the Sudan area.
