DFB sports director Rudi Völler acted as draw manager. “Losfee” was DFB cult fan André Schnura, who became famous with his saxophone during the European Championships last summer. SPORT1 accompanied the draw in the live ticker.
+++ That’s what Rolfes says about the Bayern draw +++
“Of course we were drawn the absolute top opponent in FC Bayern,” says Simon Rolfes, Managing Director of Sport in Leverkusen.
“This is the top game of the round of 16 that all of Germany will be looking forward to. We do the same ourselves and will go to Munich in December to reach the quarter-finals,” said the combative Rolfes.

+++ Update on ter Stegen +++
Völler visited the injured Marc-André ter Stegen in Barcelona. “He is doing well under the circumstances. We wanted to make him feel good. He has to torture himself a bit now, but it’s worth it.”
The two had lunch together and in the evening attended the Champions League duel between Barcelona and FC Bayern.
+++ What about the DFB team +++
Rudi Völler looks back on an “incredibly successful” European Championship, “even if it was only enough for the quarter-finals”. Until recently, he discussed the controversial hand penalty decision with some referees at the DFB when Germany was not awarded a supposed penalty. “That was a clear penalty,” says Völler.
Now it’s about winning the last two games in the Nations League.

+++ Völler about the cup cracker +++
“This is of course the game of games in this round. Of course I would have preferred it to come a little later. I’m flying with my Leverkusen team tomorrow, they won’t greet me with hugs,” said Völler. And further: “I don’t think Bayern are that happy about this draw, it will be a game of equals.”
