Malaysian GP halted at red flag after Miller crash

The start of the Malaysian GP was marked by a crash involving several drivers. Jack Miller lost control of his KTM in the second corner of the race and hit the rear wheel of Fabio Quartararo's Yamaha, which then led to the Frenchman's fall and that of Brad Binder.

The three drivers were declared conscious by the race management, without further information being communicated in the first moments. While Quartararo and Binder walked away from the scene of the accident, Miller received treatment from emergency responders on the trail. Twelve minutes after the accident, he was evacuated by ambulance to be transported to the circuit medical center.

A few minutes later, officials announced that “the first checks show no serious injury for Jack Miller”after a short examination at the medical center. The images of the production even showed him standing, returning to his garage, at 3:25 p.m. on site (i.e. 8:25 a.m. in ), visibly without the slightest discomfort.

The race was therefore stopped with a red flag before the end of the first lap and the drivers returned to the pits to let emergency services intervene.

Initially scheduled for 20 laps, the Malaysian Grand Prix will resume for 19 laps, with the rapid start procedure. The pitlane will reopen at 3:20 p.m. local time, or 8:20 a.m. in France. The initial starting grid will be maintained, without Miller. Quartararo was present, while Binder returned to his garage to retire after his reconnaissance lap.
