Brazilian F1 GP Qualifying postponed to Sunday

The qualifying session scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (French time) will ultimately not take place this Saturday after the heavy rain which fell on the Interlagos circuit.

After several postponements of 15 minutes in 15 minutes, the decision was made not to have the drivers drive in these Dantean conditions in São Paulo.

“Qualifying for the São Paulo Grand Prix is postponed”, said the FIA in a post on X. “The decision was made due to the lack of visibility caused by the level of rain we have experienced in recent hours. There is a lot of standing water on parts of the circuit, making conditions dangerous.”

“While we all want to see competition on the track, the safety of drivers, team members, volunteers, officials and spectators is our main priority. A decision on the start time of qualifying tomorrow morning will be made as soon as possible.”

It should be noted that the weather forecast is not good for this Sunday morning (São Paulo time), with the risk of rain being high or even very high for the whole day, according to weather.com.
