Thanks to Mika Godts and a clumsy PSV, Ajax has won the blood-curdling top match in the Eredivisie. The Belgian substitute impressed and was able to punish defensive blunder by the competition leader for the 3-2 final score.

What a week for Ajax. On Wednesday, Feyenoord suffered its first defeat under Brian Priske. And now it has also put an end to PSV’s perfect report.

Ajax had even trained specifically to keep Luuk de Jong out of the match, because the Dutch striker scored in seven consecutive matches against the Amsterdam team. It turned out to be a measure for nothing, because he headed home from a corner for the 0-1.

Despite conceding a goal, Ajax was the strongest team on the field and wanted to see that reflected on the scoreboard. Just before half-time, Davy Klaassen was able to score the equalizer.

Yet Ajax quickly had to chase again in the second half. Ivan Perisic, ex-Club Brugge, scored his first goal for PSV with a low slider.

Yet Ajax was still able to completely turn the match around. After Fitz-Jim’s equalizer, substitute Mika Godts put the icing on the cake.

The Belgian was able to take advantage of some fumbling in the PSV defense and scored the 3-2. Our compatriot even had opportunities to further increase the score, but the victory was a fact.

Due to the defeat, PSV has lost its undefeated status. Ajax is closing in on 5 points, having played one match less.

An extra 4 minutes will be added.
