Although Marco Rose was only BVB coach for a short time, he apparently still has a good reputation in Dortmund. His successor confirms this.
Dortmund – RB Leipzig will play away against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening (6.30 p.m.). For Marco Rose it is once again a return to his old place of work. The 48-year-old was BVB's coach in the 2021/22 season, and the collaboration ended early.
Rose, who had to leave Dortmund after “an intensive season analysis”, played his 100th competitive game as RB coach against his former club.
“That’s quite a number. As a Leipzig player, playing my 100th game for a Leipzig Bundesliga club makes me proud. I like being at the club and wouldn’t mind if there were a few more games after the 100,” said Rose before the trip to Dortmund.
Şahin about Rose: “That makes my heart open”
The Leipzig coach continues to enjoy a high reputation with his former employer. At least that's what Nuri Şahin's words suggest. “When you hear them in the building talking about Marco Rose, my heart opens,” said Şahin at the press conference in Dortmund on Friday, quite surprisingly, after all, Rose wasn’t in office long.
The fact that people at BVB continue to speak positively about Rose even though he is no longer there “says a lot about you,” said Şahin. “So the human component also fits.”
Şahin is under pressure with BVB
Şahin succeeded Edin Terzić in Dortmund in the summer. Terzić was BVB coach from December 2020 to June 2021 and was therefore in office before Rose. After Rose's exit, Terzić took over again before he stepped down at the end of the previous season and made way for Şahin.
Şahin is currently in a sporting crisis with Dortmund. Şahin recently lost three times in a row with Borussia Dortmund. After defeats in the Champions League against Real Madrid (2:5), in the Bundesliga against FC Augsburg (1:2) and in the DFB Cup against VfL Wolfsburg (0:1), BVB is under pressure. Will there be a liberation against Rose and Leipzig?
