Traffic between Lyon and Saint-Étienne will resume earlier than planned.
Following the violent bad weather in October, the Lyon-Saint-Étienne railway line will be back in service on Monday, November 4, from 5:20 a.m.
Work on the Givors-Saint-Étienne section, hit hard by landslides and mudslides after the passage of storms Kirk and Leslie, was carried out more quickly than expected thanks to the tireless mobilization of the SNCF Réseau teams, accompanied by several local companies for sanitation and earthworks.
The SNCF specifies in its press release that traffic “will be done at normal speed on track 2”while on track 1, in the Saint-Étienne-Givors direction, “train speeds will be slowed down” with a complete return to normal expected around November 19. Rail transport will be slightly adjusted with 49 daily round trips (out of the usual 53) between Lyon and Saint-Étienne, and delays of 10 to 15 minutes could persist.
