The whole of Spain is in mourning, after the climatic disaster which devastated the Valencia region on the night of October 29 to 30, during the passage of storm DANA. In some areas, an entire year’s worth of rainfall fell in less than eight hours, causing apocalyptic floods and killing at least 95 people. When the terrible news was announced, the King of Spain expressed his shock and offered his condolences in a moving speech. However, the parents of Leonor and Sofia do not intend to stop there. This Thursday, October 31, our colleagues from the magazine Look revealed that the couple made a big decision: this weekend, they decided to go to the affected regions in order to provide support to the victims.
For the moment, the official website of the Spanish Royal House has not given any details on the program of this visit: in fact, it could be canceled if the weather conditions remain too unstable. According to our Spanish colleagues, King Felipe and his wife should go to the areas most affected by the disaster, in order to meet the victims, volunteers and rescuers to assure them of their support. Their Royal Highnesses also plan to contact the authorities of the municipalities concerned to assess the damage and discuss the actions to be put in place. The Spanish sovereign would also have made the forces of the Royal Household available to the Spanish government to assist the emergency services.

Letizia and Felipe of Spain: an autumn marked by drama
The least we can say is that Felipe and Letizia from Spain, who celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this year, have had to face painful ordeals since the start of the school year. On September 8, the two sovereigns met with family for a sad occasion: the funeral of their cousin Juan Gómez-Acebo, who died of cancer. The king was notoriously very close to the deceased, whom he met during vacations during his youth. Stunned by the tragedy that has just struck the country, Felipe of Spain can nevertheless count on his family, who knows how to remain united in joy as well as in trials, and will make sure to provide all his support to the victims of storm DANA , who will need time to recover from this real tragedy.
