Eric Stehfest has been very open about his mental illnesses and his drug past for years. He has suffered from paranoid schizophrenia since his youth. He is currently receiving outpatient treatment at a psychiatric facility.

Substance abuse can have serious consequences even years after the last high: Eric Stehfest (35) has to experience this firsthand. The actor was addicted to the dangerous drug crystal meth for ten years in his youth and as a young adult. He wrote a book about his experiences “Awake for 9 days” written that was published in 2017 and made into a film three years later.

His life story was filmed in the film “9 Days Awake”.

Thinks that there is only evil lurking everywhere. Another Eric doesn’t remember good times. For example, he thinks his wife is just trying to embarrass him.”

The said wife and mother of his children (8 and 3) is Edith Stehfest (29), with whom he has been married since 2015 and who is known, among other things, from the Joyn show “Dirty Words”. According to Eric Stehfest, if it had been up to her, “I would have been in the clinic for a long time. It took me a long time to understand that she wanted to help me. I’m in therapy now because I want to protect my family from her wants to save destruction.”

Before, he always thought that everyone had their problems. Admitting to himself that this wasn’t the case and that he urgently needed help took “a lot of strength, and it ended up endangering my marriage,” admits the reality star.

Eric isn’t currently having an acute attack, but he’s finally getting help: he’s being treated at a clinic every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., where he’s also being taken on medication. Thanks to the tablets, he is feeling better for the first time in years. Because, among other things, these inhibit the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine: “For me it was at a waterfall level. And that can lead to schizophrenia and delusion.”

On his planned date “Fame Fighting”Stehfest wants to compete in the competition against SixxPaxx stripper Marvin Manson on November 9th despite therapy and is training for it every day, as he reports on his Instagram account.
