The minimum wage benefits from a mechanical increase each year on January 1, but increases also occur during the year as soon as inflation exceeds 2%, which is currently the case. The minimum wage therefore benefits from an anticipated increase of 2% on November 1st. It increases to 1,801.80 euros gross monthly, except in Mayotte where it will now be 1,361.97 euros.
Revaluation of supplementary pensions
Supplementary pensions for former private sector employees are increased by 1.6% from November 1, i.e. 0.2 points below the inflation forecast by INSEE for 2024 (1.8%). This increase is equivalent to an increase of 13 euros per month on average, for a supplementary pension of 800 euros.
The additional part of the pension for private sector employees represents between 20% and 60% of the total pension, depending on the person.
Winter tires compulsory in 34 departments
From November 1st, the “Mountain Law 2” officially comes into force in France. It makes “snow and ice” equipment mandatory for all vehicles traveling in areas likely to be most affected, namely, in the mountains and surrounding areas. 34 departments are affected in total, in the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Alps, the Jura Massif and the Vosges Massif. Each prefecture then publishes the list of municipalities concerned on its territory. This obligation is valid until March 31, 2025.
Slight drop in gas prices
According to figures published by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), the benchmark gas sales price (PRVG) decreases by around 1% for the month of November. In detail, this reduction is 0.93% for the price of kWh for hot water and cooking, going from 0.1396 to 0.1383 euros, while for heating, it decreases by 1.17 %, going from 0.1106 to 0.1093 euros. The price of the subscription remains stable since its last change in July 2024.
Screening for sickle cell disease generalized to all newborns
Sickle cell anemia, a genetic disease with potentially serious effects, can be screened for all newborns from November 1. Until now, this test was generalized in Overseas but was targeted in mainland France. This generalization was recommended by the High Authority for Health at the end of 2022, “considering that sickle cell disease is the most common genetic disease at birth, that its incidence is increasing and that this pathology is responsible for high morbidity and a significant reduction in survival.
Winter break begins
The winter break begins Friday 1is november. Until March 31, 2023, eviction procedures for non-payment of rent are therefore suspended, except for a few exceptions: people benefiting from rehousing that suits their family needs, squatters occupying a home, a garage or land, the spouse whose expulsion from the marital home has been ordered by a family affairs judge.
