Don't expect to see large trees planted everywhere in the town of Vierzon. It is greening in small steps. Diffuse plantings using different techniques: “There will be street trees where possible, along major boulevards for example, explains Sabine Morève, environment assistant at Vierzon town hall. Micro forests also in parking lots that have been de-waterproofed so that rainwater infiltrates more into the ground. Runoff water is also directed to irrigate planting areas. The ground is porous and it's true that it might make your shoes a little dirtier with more dust when it's dry. We need to change our way of seeing things and accept seeing more grass. Whether in schoolyards or in cemeteries. It's impossible that our green spaces agents can clean everywhere.”
Because we must not increase the workload in green spaces which already have 33 agents. The 1,200 m2 of Mouton car park (near the Leclerc hypermarket) have just been planted: a micro forest on the sides which is maintained alone, with one plant per square meter. Only the strongest will survive.
And around fifteen large trees in particular: “We planted local species such as maples but also Mediterranean species such as cork oaks which are more resistant to drought.explains Jérôme Petit, responsible for green spaces at Vierzon town hall. The micro forest allows vegetation to be dense enough to attract birds and provide shade. The goal is for her to talk to herself as much as possible. We will simply come and remove the brambles if they appear.”
Several ponds have also been rehabilitated, an orchard has been planted on rue duJonc. Coming soon: the revegetation of rue Etienne Marcel.
