Actually, for Juri Hoffmann (Dirk Borchardt) clear that that was it for him now. He wants to leave everything behind and, if necessary, go to Canada alone since he can no longer stand it in Eisenach. But then he accidentally meets the dog trainer Eva Pöge (Jördis Richter) who also wants to go to Canada. So he decides to spend time with her first. Meanwhile, Katharina Wegener (Valerie Niehaus), who was surprised by Juri’s departure, to do something professionally. This is how the deaf Greta Richter (Marie Hajduk) is new because her father Lukas (Léo Aristide Mathey) wants to enable her to live as normal a life as possible. But for their inclusion, new equipment is needed, which Sascha Falk (Bert Tischendorf), the city’s inclusion officer, has yet to approve…

New love on the beaten path

It’s been shining since 2021 ZDF as part of the Sunday Herz cinema the row Next exit luck out of. Despite the title, the people in it are rarely happy. Rather, there are problems that the characters have to deal with at every turn. A constant theme is the relationship between Juri and Katharina, who were a couple as teenagers and have now met again, which is quite a challenge for everyone. Last week brought Beyond the goal Katharina’s best friend Sybille Stadler (Susanna Simon) came into play because they obviously wanted to bring something new instead of continuing to be chained to the past. The latter plays in Finally me but no longer a real role. This is only briefly mentioned in passing.

And yet you have the feeling that a new chapter is slowly being opened with the eighth part. At least it is noticeable that a new potential love interest appears out of the blue for both Juri and Katharina. Sure, Katharina could have been reunited with her husband. Instead, she is wooed by the inclusion officer, which is sometimes quite invasive. And of course it’s completely fabricated, as in Next exit luck: finally me Cupid strikes and organizes two coincidences in parallel. On the one hand, it is commendable if the series finally wants to develop further instead of constantly telling the same story. But if it turns out like this, you’re not doing yourself any favors.

From the perspective of a deaf person

The story about the deaf girl is better. On the one hand, some scenes illustrate how the world feels to them, which is never a bad thing to create a little understanding. At the same time in Next exit luck: finally me It becomes clear how difficult this can be and what needs to be taken into account in order to be able to accommodate Greta in the kindergarten group. But the most interesting aspect is the argument between Greta’s parents. While her mother Corinna (Anne Zander) is deaf himself, father Lukas can hear. And that has repercussions because the two of them cannot agree on how the girl should be raised. Would a special school for the deaf be better, where she could be among equals who were like her? Or would trying to accommodate them in the real world be a better option? This also involves the question of identity, a point that is very important to the mother.

If the film had focused more on that, it could have actually been good. On the other hand, you end up being a bit lazy about the affair, especially when it comes to its resolution. Overall is Next exit luck: finally me a little more interesting than the previous parts. The result is actually not worth seeing. Of course, fans can still tune in to see what happens next with the beloved characters. But you have to be prepared for the ending to be open-ended in an almost audacious way, so that the audience will tune in next time. However, this will probably only be the case again in a year, which was already a few months ago Dr. : Herzflattern caused irritation.
