An accident took place in Fontenay-le-Vicomte (Essonne), this Monday, October 21, seriously disrupting RER D traffic in both directions between Corbeil-Essonnes and Malesherbes. Around 11 a.m., a construction worker found himself stranded at the edge of a basket on a level crossing.
If he managed to escape and tried to alert the SNCF, it was already too late. An RER traveling towards Paris hit the basket. The accident did not only three lightly injured, two passengers and a worker, in “relative emergency”according to the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS). They were not hospitalized, the city mayor told RTL.
All the travelers were taken care of in the local school. SNCF Réseau specifies that buses have been chartered to allow travelers to arrive at their destination. On the RER D line, normal traffic should resume at the end of the afternoon.
