Siegen/Bad Berleburg. After the not necessarily sunny, but mild autumn weekend, Hoch Werner and the approaching low Josefine determine the still fresh week in the Siegen Wittgenstein district – this is what weather expert Carsten Beyer from Meteo Siegerland knows. “From today until Tuesday we will continue to be in the area of influence of Hoch Werner and the new low Josefine, which is moving from Great Britain to Scandinavia and clearing the way for another high pressure area, Hoch Xelat.”

According to Beyer, that doesn’t mean a golden autumn – a high pressure area could cover the Siegerland in dense fog from Wednesday to Friday. “The cooling process can cause previously warm air to become saturated with moisture and form fog. So if you’ve ever wondered why you wake up on a foggy morning in the fall, it’s because of the cooler nights, which promote fog formation,” explains Beyer.

I therefore find it rather difficult to make a very precise forecast for the coming days, because if additional wind comes into play to drive away the fog, the chances of sunny autumn weather increase.

According to Beyer, there are a lot of clouds this Monday and the sun rarely shows up. We also have to expect some rain in the district area – it will stay mostly dry in the afternoon. The maximum temperatures are 12 to 18 degrees with sunshine.

“Tuesday also often starts cloudy with fog and some rain. It only gets friendlier in the evening and some of the sun still comes through,” says Carsten Beyer. The maximum temperatures are between 10 and 17 degrees.

Bright spot for Wednesday

Beyer announces a small ray of hope for Wednesday: away from fog and high fog fields or after they have cleared, the sun will appear at maximum temperatures between 12 and 18 degrees.

Thursday the same story: After fog and high fog it will be sunny, but in places and especially in valleys the fog stays quite thick. Even on “Little Friday” the maximum temperatures are 12 to 18 degrees.

Sun and maximum temperatures of 14 to 20 degrees await us on Friday after some thick fog fields have cleared.

“The weekend often remains friendly, but becomes significantly cooler,” Beyer ventures an outlook.
