The head coach of AS Roma, Ivan Jurich, commented to DAZN on the narrow home defeat to Inter Milan, lamenting the unnecessary goal conceded to Lautaro Martinez. He insisted that the Giallorossi did well to limit their opponent in nearly all aspects and assured that results will come if the Romans enhance their effectiveness by improving their quality of play in the final third. In the last three official matches, Roma has only collected one point and scored just one goal:
– I didn’t like the first fifteen minutes – I think we started too timidly, but after that, we played very well. Up until that randomly conceded goal, and at this level, you pay dearly for mistakes. We had many chances, but we also made too many technical errors, which were gifts for Inter. Undoubtedly, we need to improve our quality in the final third, as it will make us more effective. I believe we limited Inter in almost all aspects, but it’s a shame we didn’t even manage to draw. I still have a lot of work ahead with Dybala – Paulo needs to interchange with his teammates to relieve some of the burden and reduce the amount of backward running. A bit more organization and understanding – and we will see the players covering the same spaces but running less. The way the players are currently sacrificing themselves for the team is just fantastic, and if they continue in the same spirit, we will achieve results. I understand the situation now, where players who are ridiculed need to be strong, but Roma has not played this well against Inter for a long time. If we continue like this, results will come, and that is the only way to bring fans back to the stands. I think the fans can be pleased with many aspects of the match, but we need results, as without them, everything else is just empty talk,– Jurich concluded.
