“My life turned upside down on Tuesday evening. Our Christmases together, our vacations together, all these moments, they will no longer exist… Because of a guy,” says the victim’s mother, referring to the 52-year-old motorist, suspected of having her. killed and who was indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention on Friday.

According to “testimonies collected at this stage” and the use of video surveillance, “the driver of the vehicle was going up the cycle path” and would have “rolled over the cyclist’s foot”, reported the prosecution. The young man “knocked on the hood to alert the driver, who initially backed away, freeing his foot”. The cyclist then dropped his bike and expressed his displeasure. It was at this moment that the driver would have “turned his wheels in the direction of the pedestrian and resumed walking forward in his direction”. The autopsy confirms “the marks of the vehicle crossing the body” and “the video surveillance shows an elevation of the front, then the rear of the left side of the vehicle. »

“It’s savagery”

“We can’t say it’s an accident, it’s not possible,” emphasizes his brother. “All this over an altercation. The war between bikes and cars makes no sense. »

“It’s savagery,” adds the victim’s mother. “We are going to have to face this, it is an immense pain. »

The driver’s lawyer assures that his client “cannot explain what happened, which seems to be a maneuvering error or a loss of control of the vehicle […] We give him an image of a person without compassion, but that is not the case, he thinks much more about this young man, who is the age of his son, than about himself.”
