Renault officially presents the R4 E-Tech, the electric return of the legendary 4L

Renault is reviving the iconic 4L with the R4 E-Tech, a 100% electric compact SUV. Presented at the Auto Show, this new version combines retro design and modern technologies to appeal to nostalgic enthusiasts and fans of sustainable mobility.

After having revived the myth of R5 in its version electric with the Renault 5 E-Tech, the manufacturer continues its momentum by resurrecting another emblematic model: the 4L. Launched in 1961, the Renault 4nicknamed the “Quatrelle”, has won over millions of motorists around the world, becoming a symbol of practicality and accessibility. Today, Renault is bringing this legend back to life with the R4 E-Techa modern and electric version of the iconic 4L, adapted to current ecological mobility requirements.

Presented at the 2024 Motor Show, the R4 E-Tech finally confirms the rumors that have been circulating since the start of the year about the return of this iconic model. This new model, “retro-futuristic” designcombines characteristic elements of the original 4L, such as the vertical grille and capsule-shaped taillights, while introducing more modern lines. The Renault 4 E-Tech offers a range of up to 400 kilometers

Beneath its retro appearance, the R4 E-Tech is equipped with cutting-edge technologies. Based on the AmpR Small platform, it is available in two configurations : a version “Comfort range” with a 110 kW motor (150 hp) and a 52 kWh batteryoffering up to 400 km of rangeand a version “Urban range” of 90 kW (120 hp) with a 40 kWh batteryable to browse more than 300 km. The interior is also modernized, with a dual digital screen, a OpenR Link multimedia system with integrated Google, and a virtual assistant named Reno, capable of interacting with artificial intelligence ChatGPT.

The R4 E-Tech is also designed for practicality, with a volume of 420 liter trunk and folding seats which recall the versatility of the original. In terms of safety, it is equipped with 26 driving aidsincluding level 2 semi-autonomous driving with Active Driver Assist. Manufactured in in , this electric R4 benefits from local production and a low carbon impact supply chain, thus reinforcing its commitment to the environment. Renault hopes that this model will appeal to both nostalgic for the 4L and fans of sustainable mobility.
