« Il y aura besoin d’une nouvelle loi immigration » en 2025, notamment pour prolonger la durée de rétention administrative des immigrés clandestins jugés dangereux, a déclaré ce dimanche 13 octobre, au micro de BFMTV, la porte-parole du gouvernement Maud Bregeon.

« Bruno Retailleau [ministre de l’Intérieur] has put on the table a proposal which should make it possible to facilitate the extension of detention of foreigners in an irregular situation who present dangerous profiles in administrative detention centers”, she explained. Concretely, immigrants deemed dangerous could be detained for 210 days and no longer 90 days as is currently the case.

“We are not stopping ourselves from thinking about other arrangements”

These legislative proposals will be presented in “beginning of 2025”, according to Maud Bregeon. “We are not stopping ourselves from thinking about other arrangements,” added the government spokesperson.

As a reminder, the last immigration law was promulgated on January 26, 2024, less than a year ago, by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron.
